An open Letter to the person who tossed a kitten in a box on the side of the road:

You are beneath contempt. Suffer greatly, and die screaming.

See you in hell,

-Bob

Things to put by the side of the road: unwanted furniture with signs that say "free." NOT LIVING THINGS.

That's a good question. I don't quite know yet, but the odds are good that the news will be bad. we found him late Saturday night, the earliest the SPCA rescue center could take him in was Monday morning. He was cold, tired, and hungry, but he seemed alert so we thought he might be ok. He had an appetite and was able to move around, so we thought he just needed food, rest, and shelter to recover. We decided we wanted to keep him, but we needed to get him checked out first. He was very skinny and weak, still weak after a couple of nights with us.

The person at the SPCA was not hopeful. She expected that the vet would recommend it be euthanized, since it was sick and not likely to recover even with expensive emergency care. I asked them to call me and let me know either way, but they did not contact me today. I will be trying again tomorrow.

Update: I was told that he went home with the vet last night on an IV. Nothing solid yet, but better than I expected to hear.
